Since 2006 in the European Union, the installation of digital tachographs has been mandatory. A tachograph is a device fitted to a vehicle that automatically records its speed and distance, together with the driver's activity selected from a choice of modes. The use of driver cards has made driver identification easy without the need to install any additional devices.
All digital tachographs have a K-line connection. The live tachograph data is transmitted via this connection or CAN-bus network and describes the current state of the tachograph, driver, and the vehicle itself. The FMS interface can get all the live tachograph data on the Serial port or CAN output without any extra device.

Compatible digital tachograph:

- Continental/Siemens VDO: All DTCO1381 models are consistent with our gateway, as well as all MTCO models starting with serial number 1324-xx4xxXXX0x04.
- Stoneridge SE5000: All Stoneridge SE5000 tachographs are supported.
- Actia Smartach L2000: All Actia Smartach L2000 tachographs are supported.
